Karin Andersen: Science Kitchen
Karin Andersen is a Italian-German artist living in Bologna. Andersen is known for her digitally manipulated images, often using herself as a model, morphed into a hybrid between a human and an animal. For the house she created a digital image for the kitchen worktop. The work is inspired by scifi and spacecrafts, but also of the baroque tromp l’oeil effect. The worktop is like a window opening downwards under the surface of the table with images of everyday objects, food and animal-like creatures dressed as chefs weightlessly hovering around.
