Shawn Decker: Sound Bridge

Sound bridge is a sound work for the railing of the bridge inside the livingroom. The artwork’s tiny built-in speakers are like berries in the decorative railing by Jan-Erik Andersson, matching the various ornamental elements of the aluminium panels. The piece utilises 54 speakers throughout two railings - one on each side. A light and a wind sensor is installed outside the house and the sensors affect one railing each. The work is made of many quiet ticking sounds. The idea is to create quite ever-changing rhythms within the house that lie just below one’s sense of awareness and which connect the interior of the house to the exterior rhythms of wind and sun, and an overall sense of constant change.
